Observe natural interactions with parents.
Have parent hold the baby face up in front of his face. Once the baby is staring at him, have the parent slowly move his head from one side of the baby’s face to the other.
The baby’s eyes and head will move to keep the parent in sight.
Encourage face-to-face play. The infant soon will recognize the parents’ faces and smile.
