Watch child during bath time or during pretend bath time.
Talk about which body parts are dirty and which need to be washed.
Observe whether the child names body parts and correctly “washes” them. Understanding body parts indicates the child understand his various parts and relationship.
Help parents understand how knowing body parts helps children understand themselves as a person. Parents can also point out how people are alike and different. During bath time, toileting, and mealtime parents can point out body parts and what they do.
