The child uses an adult’s hand or a railing for support while going down the stairs.
Going down stairs is more challenging because of the perception of depth, which adds an element of fear. Early childhood educators and parents can support the child by providing a supportive hand and also encouragement. “One step at a time. Great! You did it!”
