Behavior Observed

The child will move into many sitting positions, including, circle sit, tailor sit, side sit, straight leg sit, squatting, and sitting in chairs.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Most children move frequently and sit in many different positions. Some children W-sit occasionally. Constant use of the W-sit should be discouraged, as this position may cause abnormal rotation of hips, knees, and ankles that can effect bone formation and gait. Encourage early childhood educators and parents to correct this position when it is observed.
