Begins to cooperate in games, songs, and finger plays

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child in play interactions with others and/or during daily routines with the adult.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult can introduce a song with a finger play.

Behavior Observed

The child imitates and begins to remember the sequence of actions in songs and finger-plays. She may initiate a familiar one with the adult.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage early childhood educators and parents to play games with the child. Games involve taking turns and paying attention to another’s turn. This is important for developing conversational skills.
