Throws ball overhead

Situations for Observation of Skill

Give the child a ball to play with an adult.

Elicitation Strategy

The adult models throwing the ball overhead with both hands to the child.

Behavior Observed

The child will now lift both arms overhead and heave the ball forward.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to take a ball into a backyard or to the park. Playing ball with an adult and other children motivates the child to try new skills. They want to throw further, harder, and faster.
