Observe the child after snack.
The child uses a wet cloth (wrung out by an adult) to wipe back-and-forth and up-and-down on a table.
Early childhood educators and parents can ask children to look at what needs to be done, so they begin to notice needed tasks. For example, when taking a bath, look at the empty tub and say, “What do we need to do?” When there is a messy table, ask, “What can we do to fix this?”
