Read one of the child’s favorite books or sing a favorite song or rhyme.
Leave out the last word or an important word in the book or song.
The child will fill in the missing word.
Children love to show that they know book lines and song phrases or finger plays. Encourage early childhood educators and parents to do all three with the child and give the child the opportunity to “show off” by knowing what is missing.
