Observe the child during the daily routines.

Elicitation Strategy

During snack ask about what different foods people like and dislike. While driving in the car ask about different peoples favorite colors, activities, songs, etc.

Behavior Observed

The child demonstrates that his opinions and feelings are different from others.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to help their child understand how different people think and feel by having different family members compare what they like and don’t like in different categories. This is a good dinnertime or car drive activity.
