Girls ask to urinate in the toilet

Situations for Observation of Skill

Interview the adult.

Elicitation Strategy

Ask the adult how often the child indicates they need to urinate in the toilet.

Behavior Observed

The average age for girls to be toilet trained is 29 months. Boys are making progress and some may use the toilet.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Let parents know that not all children are toilet trained by the “average age.” Each child is an individual with his own timeline. Patience and encouragement without negativity is key to success.
