The child engages in a play sequence with a series of actions (e.g., drives the toy bus, stops at stop sign, let’s characters off the bus).

Help early childhood educators and parents understand the importance of sequencing ideas into actions. When children put their thoughts into an action sequence, they have a reason to talk about a series of things. This is the basis of a conversation. Encourage adults to support multi-sequence play by asking about what will happen next. After play talk about what the children did and the sequence of actions and dialogue.
