Take a walk to a park with a playground. Bring a ball and sidewalk chalk.
The adult might say, “Can you jump over this line?” or “Jump to this line.” Of course, the child will also give the adult instructions, so be prepared for crazy feats!
The child jumps forward with sufficient force to move his body two to three times the length of his feet.
Taking walks gets children outside and also gives adult’s a chance to help them practice skills like jumping and running. Even if a stroller is needed for a long walk, the child can get out and be active for part of the walk.
