Understands questions about objects, people and basic routines

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the adult and child reading a new story with a different culture represented, such as Elizabeti’s Doll.

Elicitation Strategy

Have the adult ask the child questions about the people, the dress, the caregiving, etc.

Behavior Observed

The child answers or demonstrates an understanding of a variety of questions through actions or verbalizations.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Reading a variety of different types of books, including storybooks, poetry books, predictable books, number books, and expository books with real pictures enables early childhood educators and parents to discuss many topics and ask a variety of different questions.
