Have a discussion during snack about feelings. Alternatively, use a book with pictures of feelings.
Talk about actual situations or pictures in books. Ask why she thinks the child is showing a particular emotion.
The child hypothesizes what she thinks might be causing emotions in others based on situations or pictures.
Help early childhood educators and parents understand how reading storybooks is a good way to talk about emotions. Demonstrate how to talk about the characters’ actions, and feelings. Compare these to the child’s feelings and those of others she knows.
