Observe child during circle time.

Elicitation Strategy

During circle time, the adult shares books, songs and tongue twisters that involve alliteration and rhymes. The adult models and asks the child to repeat his favorite part.

Behavior Observed

The child smiles and attempts to imitate the adult.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Early childhood educators and parents need to share a variety of types of books, songs and tongue twisters with children. Alliterative and rhyming books are two important types, as they help children learn to identify sound patterns in words and sentences.
