Asks adults to show them how to draw or create something

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child making a family collage. Have paper, pencils or markers and glue, along with a grocery newspaper ad.

Elicitation Strategy

Ask the child to draw the faces of his family members in the middle of the paper. Then the child looks for a picture of a food that each family member likes that can be cut out and glued next to the family member’s face.

Behavior Observed

She may ask for help to add other body parts. The child will need assistance to turn the paper as she cuts out the picture.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

This type of activity is a great family project. Real items and pictures can be used to show what the family likes. Encourage parents to involve all family members in fun art projects.
