Have small items for the child to manipulate, such as small beads, pasta, or cereal loops, and a thick string or shoelace.

The adult encourages the child to make a necklace for dramatic play or a present for a relative.

The child aims the end of the string at the small opening and manipulates it through the opening of the bead or pasta, demonstrating good eye-hand coordination.

Many art projects allow children to practice eye-hand coordination. Provide opportunities for the children to use tiny stickers, glue hole punch holes on paper cards as designs, make and use sewing cards, create necklaces with common materials, etc.
