Observe the child in classroom activities, including a group discussion during circle or small group time, in the dramatic play area, and during free play on the playground.

The child waits for a turn in a group conversation, though may still blurt out his comment.
Early childhood educators need to lead small group discussions to allow children to learn how to listen to others and contribute in turn. Allow small groups of children to dictate narratives about events in the classroom and on field trips, as well as dictating stories they create. Incorporate opportunities for discussion of topics related to classroom themes into the day.
