Lies intentionally if she thinks the lie will keep her out of trouble

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child during daily activities and routines.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed. If the child does something wrong, ask the child “What happened?”

Behavior Observed

See if the child tells the truth or lies.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Children at this age, because they anticipate, want to avoid punishment. Having the child do something to repair the situation is more effective than punishment. If something is broken, the child needs to try to fix it. If something is taken (or eaten) the child needs to return it or find a substitute, etc.
