Situations for Observation of Skill

Determine what names from the class the child recognizes by identifying names on cubbies, artwork, etc.

Elicitation Strategy

Have the names of all the children in the class on separate cards. See if the child can identify her own name and those of her friends.

Behavior Observed

The child begins to associate beginning sounds with specific letters, specifically those in her own name.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Parents can begin letter-sound recognition using familiar names, including family members, pets, and friends.
