Acts out feelings of characters in dramatic play (fear, anger, sadness, etc.) with fantasy characters, super heroes, etc.

Situations for Observation of Skill

Use the existing dramatic play materials in the dramatic play area.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation is needed.

Behavior Observed

The child will portray the emotions of the character being played (the patient shows pain; the hero shows pride; the baby shows hunger or sadness, etc.)

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Children will prefer peers or siblings for dramatic play at this age. Play dates at home allow children to develop dramatic play activities. Encourage early childhood educators and parents to provide the time, space, and materials for the social interaction and creativity to develop.
