Observe the child before and after the adult leaves her with another adult. Also observe during daily routines.

The child demonstrates an emerging sense of self by demanding desires be met and arguing about what or how she needs to do chores.
Help parents understand that young children should have chores so they learn they have a responsibility to the whole family, not just themselves. Children also need boundaries and an understanding of what is a “want” and what is a “need.”
