Believes he can do everything well

Situations for Observation of Skill

Discuss different skills that people have and which the child thinks he could do.

Elicitation Strategy

Play a game where each person names a skill (e.g., play football, fly an airplane, be a gymnast, etc.), then each person says whether they think they could do that skill.

Behavior Observed

The child thinks he is very talented and can do anything. He cannot yet judge his abilities accurately.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Reassure parents that it is okay if their child is overly confident. The child will learn his limits as he begins to test his limits and compare his skills to others. It is important not to discourage self-confidence.
