Showers independently, but may need help with washing hair

Situations for Observation of Skill

Interview adult.

Elicitation Strategy

Ask the adult about whether the child can bathe or shower independently. Ask what aspects she needs help with.

Behavior Observed

The child attends to all body parts when bathing. May need assistance getting all of the soap out of hair.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to let children be responsible for bathing and showering activities, with appropriate supervision and help. Provide suggestions for different types of soaps, sponges, mittens, etc. that will help children be independent.
