Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child looking at pictures of objects or people.

Elicitation Strategy

Provide a photograph of an object, such as a chair or toy and a photograph of a person. Hold them up at the same time for the infant to look at.

Behavior Observed

The infant stares longer at the picture of the person.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Infants can now discern details in pictures and recognize familiar people and objects in their lives. Early childhood educators and parents can introduce photos of people and familiar objects in board books.
