Observe the infant in interaction with siblings.
Ask the sibling to interact playfully with the infant in face-to-face interaction.
The infant recognizes family members and reacts with smiles and excited arm and leg movements to siblings. Siblings have different features and expressions that appeal to infants.
Encourage the sibling to watch the way her new brother gets excited when he sees her. Tell her the baby is saying, “I want to play with your body.” This will encourage the siblings to want to talk to him.
