Responds with enthusiasm to familiar social games with siblings

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the infant in interaction with siblings.

Elicitation Strategy

Ask the sibling to interact playfully with the infant in face-to-face interaction.

Behavior Observed

The infant recognizes family members and reacts with smiles and excited arm and leg movements to siblings. Siblings have different features and expressions that appeal to infants.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage the sibling to watch the way her new brother gets excited when he sees her. Tell her the baby is saying, “I want to play with your body.” This will encourage the siblings to want to talk to him.
