Observe how the child accesses desired toys and materials. Also observe how the child uses the adult to get his needs met.
No elicitation is needed.
The child seeks out people and things that make him feel good. Watch the toys, objects, and actions the child chooses.
Encourage early childhood educators and parents to spend time just watching the infants as he plays independently. They can learn much about the baby’s preferences and emerging skills.
