Completely independent in self-care; wants to choose all clothing and activities

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child in daily living skills.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

The child wants to follow his own preferences and do all activities independently.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Support parents in letting the child become independent, even if things are not always done to the adults standards. The child can set out clothing the night before, help make the grocery list, plan play dates, and so on. The more he is involved in decision-making, the fewer the conflicts.
