Elicitation Strategy

If the children do not interact spontaneously, introduce an activity that two can do, such as block play. Once interacting, the adult can back out.

Behavior Observed

The child wants to play with peers, so invites them to join him in whatever he is doing.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage parents to have play dates or meet other children at the park or some play area. Children can learn to negotiate with each other with support and guidance from adults.
