Observe the infant in a supported stand.
Hold the infant in a standing position with hands under the infant’s armpits.
The infant pushes against the floor and starts to bounce. He likes the movement and feel of the feet and knees pushing and releasing to create a bounce.
Encourage early childhood educators and parents to play with the infant in different ways, so the infant gets vertical input to the legs and feet. They can use post-bath, post-diapering, and post-nap as a time to give the child supported stand time for a play minute.
