Observe the child during playtime with toys on the floor.
No elicitation needed.
The child may squat to pick something up or even remain in a squat to play. Moving from squat to stand is now easy.
Children will move in and out of many positions, using the standing position as a transition. Point out to early childhood educators and parents how many ways the child can move in and out of standing, and note the different motor skills this helps develop, including body rotation, weight shifting, and balance.
