Picks up a toy from the floor by bending over at the waist, getting the toy, then standing back up

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child during play time.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

Bending over while standing requires the child to have balance so he doesn’t fall forward. The child can now do this.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Children can do many things while standing. Early childhood educators and parents can involve children in clean-up. This enables children to practice up and down movements requiring balance.
