Situations for Observation of Skill

Play outdoors or play music.

Elicitation Strategy

Play chase outside. Dance to music with a strong beat.

Behavior Observed

The child runs. The child dances spontaneously when music is played.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Dancing is a good way for children to incorporate many different movements with both arms and legs. They use body parts independently, together, and in alternation. This requires coordinating upper and lower body movements along with both sides of their body.
