Observe the child with wheeled toys, such as doll strollers, string-pull toys, etc.
No elicitation needed.
The child pushes and pulls objects to make things go. The child pushes toys on his knees while crawling and practices pushing and pulling while walking.
Early childhood educators and parents can give the child many ways to build balance, strength, and coordination. In addition to push-pull toys, they can involve the child in daily routines, such as pushing or pulling the laundry basket to the washer, pulling pots out of the cupboards, or pushing a stroller outside.
