Rocks back-and-forth from one leg to another when dancing

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child while dancing to music.

Elicitation Strategy

If the child does not dance to music spontaneously, the adult can dance and encourage the child to dance along.

Behavior Observed

The child lifts one foot and then the other while moving back-and-forth and side-to-side.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Dancing encourages the child to shift her weight in different directions. This helps build balance and rhythmic coordinated movements. Encourage early childhood educators and parents to have fun dancing with the child.
