Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child lying on her back and stomach.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

The infant’s hands, arms, and legs are predominantly flexed.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Time on the tummy encourages children to lift their heads, building neck strength. Pushing up on arms to look around also helps children build arm and shoulder strength and stability.
