Observe the child with paper and a crayon or marker.
The adult gives the child a paper and pencil, crayon, or marker.
The child spontaneously scribbles on the paper without a model. Uses whole arm and wrist to scribble.
Encourage early childhood educators and parents to let children play with non-toxic markers and boards, doodle boards, crayons and paper and sidewalk chalk. Children like to scribble and make marks with stamps as well.
