The infant experiments with sound combinations that are part of the language he hears daily.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Talking to the child is critical. Encourage early childhood educators and parents to comment on what they are doing, engage in talking while playing with the infant, and model making funny sound patterns. Adults should also read books with the infant, so the infant hears the different intonation patterns associated with book reading versus talking.
