Observe the child in dramatic play with dolls or action figures and props.
No elicitation needed.
The child talks to whatever or whoever she is playing with and repeats sequences because they are pleasurable.
Many early childhood educators and parents give children toys and then want them to play independently. Encourage adults to play with children, or at least observe and comment on the children’s play.
