Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation is needed.

Behavior Observed

The child picks out a specific book, opens it, and looks at the pictures.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Books are now prized possessions. Children love for early childhood educators and parents to read to them. Encourage adults to read to the child frequently during the day. Also, help adults understand that responding to the child’s requests to share a book is important. Taking just a minute to look at a book or a few pictures in the book, tells the child that you value books and his interest in books.
