Ask the child what the watch or clock is. Ask what time it is? (Don’t expect an actual time).

Behavior Observed

The child will know the function of the clock and may be able to state a number or activity of the day.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Encourage early childhood educators and parents to talk about basic characteristics of shape, size, and color as they discuss things in the environment. “Look at this rock. It is round.”
