Dump out shape blocks, with two to three of each basic shape.
While playing the adult can say, “I need another one like this one. Can you find one for me?” Do the same with several of the basic shapes.
The child finds matching shape blocks.
Building with blocks of different shapes helps children see that even though the blocks are laying on the floor in different directions, some are the “same.”
