Observe the child when crying or fussy.
Play soft music and have the parent rock the baby back-and-forth slowly.
The child calms with rhythmic sounds, movements, and/or music.
Parents typically use rocking movements to sooth their baby. Encourage parents to use music as well. Input to both the auditory (hearing) and vestibular (movement) systems can help some children calm more easily.
