Observe the child in play with a variety of people.
No elicitation needed.
The child interacts positively with everyone. She offers, shows, plays next to and talks to other players.
Encourage parents to keep a photo book for the child (note: FOR not OF). The photo book is of family members and friends, activities, the child’s special items, etc. The book will become a child’s favorite as he knows the people and the experiences. It provides a basis for conversation as well. The child will want to share it with visitors.
