Dresses up like the same gender parent

Situations for Observation of Skill

Observe the child in play with opposite gender peers. Have dress up clothes for both genders in the play area.

Elicitation Strategy

No elicitation needed.

Behavior Observed

When in the dramatic play area with dress up clothes, both genders select clothing reflecting that of their same gender parent.

Routines-based Intervention (Embedded Instruction)

Children of this age are identifying intentionally with their same gender parent. They are aware of gender differences and begin to select gender specific activities and clothing. Although both boys and girls may play with all types of toys, clothing is typically selected for their gender.
