Observe the child changing clothes. This allows observation of both undressing and dressing.
The adult hands the child a pullover shirt, and asks her to put it on.
The child finds the head hole and tries to pull it on, but may need help orienting it first.
Early childhood educators and parents can encourage the child to help dress themselves. The child will like helping the adult find the head and arm holes, put shoes on and off, etc. Encourage the child to do as much dressing and undressing independently as she can.
