Observe bath time or ask the adult about bath time habits.
Have the adult give the child a washcloth and soap during his bath. If this is not possible, interview the parent about whether the child can wash his own body.
The child knows body parts and reaches across the body and up and down the limbs to wash.
Many parents do all the bathing of the child. Encourage parents to let the child do as much as she can by herself, including washing and drying her own body. Pajamas are lightweight and typically easier to put on and off. Have child dress herself after her nightly bath.
