Observe the child during play and daily routines.
Play with toys that represent things that make noise, such as cars, pretend hammers and saws, mixers, etc. Play with the child and talk about what each of you is doing. Play a game where you take turns saying, “Stop!” and “Go!”
The child carries on a conversation and talks about actions, and gives commands.
Playing, talking, singing, and reading together promotes language development at this stage. The child loves having a partner and being engaged in activities related to real world routines.
