Observe the child during play and daily routines.
No elicitation needed.
The child carries on a conversation with at least two-to-three words in a sentence.
Practice talking is key to lengthening sentences and having conversations. Encourage parents to talk to the child at every opportunity, at meals, in the car, during shopping, at play, during reading and other daily activities.
