Play a game of “Guess what I am?” involving acting out movements that represent something. The adult guesses what the child is acting out with the support of another adult.
The adult and the child meet secretly and decide what to act out. The adult can provide the first idea, such as a bird, a spider, a cloud, etc. After the child gets the idea, the child can generate things to represent.
The child can represent a “thing” through actions.
Let early childhood educators and parents know that movement doesn’t just have to be dance. When children observe something in the environment, such as a cloud, the adult can say, “Show me how you would move if you were a cloud.”
